“You Can’t Scare Me,” Winnie Odinga Fires Back at ODM Threats

EALA MP Winnie Odinga has openly criticized a faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that she says is pursuing selfish interests and trying to shut her out of party affairs.

Speaking at a rally in Kibra, Nairobi, Winnie vowed not to stay silent when she sees wrongdoing in the party, despite resistance from some quarters.

She emphasized that her family background and upbringing compel her to speak out.

“As the youngest, when you see things go wrong, you have to call it out. I have come to do just that,” she said, earning cheers from supporters.

Winnie described ODM as a party in turmoil after the absence of its long-time leader, Raila Odinga, likening it to a vehicle whose driver suddenly disappears, leaving others scrambling to take control.

“Those who were close to him rushed to the steering wheel, pulling it in every direction and pushing the rest of us like luggage,” she said.

She stressed that her family is not aligned with any emerging faction, calling themselves “Team Baba”, and accused some leaders of hypocrisy, claiming they never truly supported Raila but were using him for personal gain.

Winnie also dismissed claims that certain decisions are based on instructions left by Raila, calling such assertions ill-mannered. She urged party members to remain patient until the National Delegates Congress (NDC), which she predicts will be heated and contentious.

While Winnie does not hold a major elective position or a powerful party office, her remarks echo previous warnings about ODM being “auctioned” to the highest bidder, signaling her determination to challenge internal party manipulation.
