Senator Tabitha Mutinda Finally Hints at Nairobi Woman Rep Bid

Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda has set Nairobi’s political scene abuzz after strongly hinting that she may run for the Nairobi County Woman Representative seat — a move that could reshape the 2027 race.

Posting on her Facebook page, the senator acknowledged mounting public pressure urging her to vie, thanking supporters for what she called overwhelming encouragement.

“Due to Public demand!! Thanks so much to my loyal fans, I really appreciate your positive compliments and I don’t take them for granted,” she wrote, before adding the now-viral line: “Pia Mimi Nawa Lombotov!!”

The post was accompanied by the hashtags #WekezaNaMama and #YouthAndWomenAdvocate, reflecting her long-standing identity as a champion for youth and women empowerment.

A Senator With an Active Track Record

Since joining the Senate in 2022, Mutinda has earned recognition for her active legislative and oversight work.
She serves as Vice Chairperson of the Senate Finance and Budget Committee, giving her a central role in national fiscal oversight and budget reforms.

She also sits on key committees including Senate Business Committee, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Committee, County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee.

Through these committees, she has been vocal on issues affecting Nairobi residents such as youth opportunities, public finance transparency, environmental management, and small business growth.

Her recent election to the Board of Governance of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF, representing East Africa, further boosted her national and international profile — a development that supporters say positions her as a strong contender for the Woman Rep seat.

Political observers say her entry into the race would heighten competition and attract significant national attention.

While Mutinda has not made a formal declaration, her post has widely been interpreted as the clearest sign yet that she may join the race — and possibly redefine it.
