The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released the official timetable for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical examinations, set to begin this week across the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 21, KNEC announced that the oral and performance-based assessments will run from October 21 to October 27, starting with languages and arts-related subjects such as French, German, Arabic (oral), Music (practical), and Kenyan Sign Language.

The council directed all examination centres to ensure proper logistics, supervision, and security to guarantee a smooth process. This phase marks the beginning of the national exam period for thousands of candidates completing their secondary education.
KNEC CEO Dr. David Njengere said a total of 996,078 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s KCSE, alongside 1,298,089 KPSEA and 1,130,669 KJSEA candidates. To manage the process, the council will deploy over 100,000 personnel, including supervisors, invigilators, security officers, and drivers to facilitate transport in remote areas.

KNEC Chairperson Prof. Julius Nyabudi affirmed that preparations were complete, assuring the public of transparency and fairness in the conduct of the exams.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance on cheating, warning that anyone involved in malpractice would face severe consequences.
“We will have no mercy on anyone found engaging in exam irregularities,” Ogamba stated.
KNEC also extended best wishes to all candidates and urged them to maintain discipline and integrity throughout the examination period.
