Heartwarming Act of Kindness at Co-op Bank Thika Leaves Granny Smiling

A touching incident at the Co-operative Bank branch in Thika has warmed the hearts of many after a compassionate teller went out of her way to help an elderly woman in distress.

According to a witness, Wanjiru Murage, the elderly woman had visited the bank, located at Jodan College Plaza, to withdraw her stipend under the Inua Jamii cash transfer program for senior citizens. Unfortunately, the funds had not yet been deposited into her account.

The teller informed the woman to check back later in the week, but the granny became visibly distressed, explaining that she did not even have bus fare to return home.

Sensing the woman’s plight, the teller—described as a brown-skinned lady in a beige trouser, black top, and sister locs—stepped out from behind her counter. She escorted the elderly customer to the ATM area, withdrew her own money, and handed it to the granny to cover her transport and immediate needs.

The small act of kindness left the elderly woman overjoyed.

“I could tell the lady made granny’s day, and she left so happy,” wrote Murage, who was deeply moved by the scene.

Murage added that the gesture also brightened her own day, noting, “The Co-operative Bank, you got a nice person here. Day made!”

The story has since resonated with many online, highlighting the power of empathy, humanity, and the difference that a simple act of kindness can make in someone’s life.
