Senator Cherargei Calls For Judiciary Reforms, Alleges Corruption.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei asserts that the judiciary in Kenya has become ‘rogue’ and needs to be brought under control.

Cherargei advises President William Ruto to disregard court decisions that he believes aim to undermine the government.

The senator alleges that the Judiciary has fallen under the influence of corrupt groups, and justice is now available to the highest bidder.

“Our Judiciary has gone rogue and must be called to order. We are now in a country where Kenyans are saying, why hire a lawyer if you can buy a judge?” Cherargei states.

Speaking in Eldoret, Cherargei expresses his commitment to spearhead reforms to the Judiciary Service Commission Act and initiate a thorough overhaul of the Judiciary to eliminate alleged corruption cartels.

“We have a situation where court orders are now issued more easily than getting a tissue paper. A judiciary full of cartels, and Kenyans can no longer access justice,” remarks Cherargei.

He insists that the Judiciary should be open to criticism and calls on Chief Justice Martha Koome not to defend her staff while neglecting the perceived corruption within the judiciary.

“While we accept the principle of separation of powers and respect the judiciary, it has overstepped its mandate and is serving some strange interests,” adds the senator.

Cherargei advocates for reforms, including open investigations into the utilization of over Sh23 billion allocated to the judiciary.

“We must also allow the EACC to probe judges, as it does with other Kenyans,” he emphasizes.

Cherargei also proposes the establishment of the office of the Ombudsman to monitor excesses in the Judiciary.

He accuses the judiciary of being influenced by cartels and opposition activists to impede government programs and questions the rationale behind the issuance of orders without considering the needs of the Kenyan people.
