Detectives have recovered a private vehicle allegedly involved in the reported abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi.
The Subaru Forester was found on Tuesday in Juja Township, and its owner—reportedly a close associate of the MP—was arrested.

The suspect, who is said to have served as a UDA agent during the 2022 general elections in Juja, is believed to have confessed to orchestrating the abduction and provided details on how the incident unfolded.
Police are now pursuing a motorbike (bodaboda) suspected to have been used to move the MP from a local residence to the coffee plantation where he was found the following morning.
Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga termed the arrest a significant step in resolving the case.
“He owns the Subaru Forester said to have intercepted the MP, leading to the alleged abduction,” Nyaga stated.
MP Koimburi was reportedly abducted on Sunday outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu County, and was discovered the next day in a coffee farm. However, police have suggested the abduction was staged for political reasons.
Koimburi is currently admitted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi. Although he has received visitors, he has not cooperated with police efforts to investigate the incident.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja dismissed the abduction narrative, labeling it as political drama. He said officers found inconsistencies between the reported scene and the viral video allegedly showing the abduction.
“Juja officers quickly visited the scene and thoroughly documented it. A comparison of the area’s vegetation and road layout with the video revealed mismatches,” said Kanja.
He also noted that the coffee farm caretaker, employed by the farm’s owner Jimmy Wanjigi, reported seeing no unusual activity.
Further raising doubts, the IG questioned how Koimburi’s associates knew his exact location and revealed that he was driven to hospital in his own car.
“The vehicle used—registration number KCJ 660P—belongs to Hon. Koimburi and was driven by Frida Njeri, who was also the first to find him,” Kanja said.
Opposition leaders, however, pushed back on claims that Koimburi staged the incident. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, after visiting Koimburi in hospital, said: “Claims that he kidnapped himself are just false narratives.”
Former Public Service CS Justin Muturi was more blunt: “Kanja can tell that story to the birds. These abductions must stop.”
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Tuesday called for an immediate parliamentary probe into Koimburi’s disappearance and reappearance, citing increasing threats to lawmakers’ safety.
In a statement to the House, Wetang’ula said: “I have asked the Chair of the Administration and Internal Security Committee to work with the Inspector General and other agencies to share preliminary findings with Parliament.”
He also noted that Karen Hospital, where Koimburi is admitted, has barred all visitors—including DCI detectives—on the instructions of the MP’s family, further fueling speculation.
Wetang’ula instructed committee members to visit the MP and provide an update to the House, while also warning against isolating the incident.
He linked it to broader security concerns, including the recent fatal shooting of Kabondo Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were.
“These incidents demand a comprehensive and coordinated investigation. We owe it to the public to uncover the truth,” he said, urging MPs and citizens alike to be vigilant and prioritize personal security.
