According to a letter obtained by The Star, the booking was made through DCP’s interim Secretary General, Hezron Obaga, with the launch event set for June 3, 2025.
The party anticipates a turnout of around 5,000 people, including members, supporters, invited guests, and the media. The program will feature speeches, entertainment, and interactive sessions to introduce the party’s vision, manifesto, and leadership.
Kasarani management responded with an invoice for the venue hire.
This announcement follows a recent event where Gachagua introduced the party’s interim officials and formally revealed the party name. That event, held on May 15, 2025, was widely seen as a soft launch for DCP.
At the unveiling, Gachagua confirmed that the party’s name had been submitted to the Registrar of Political Parties for approval. Several prominent figures from the UDA and Jubilee parties have taken up key roles in DCP.
Notable interim appointees include:
- Cleophas Malala – Deputy Party Leader
- Mithika Linturi – Interim National Organising Secretary
- Former Starehe MP – Chair, Caucus of Eminent Persons
- Catherine Waruguru – National Women Leader
- David Mingati – National Chairperson
Other leaders appointed to various roles include Peter Mwathi (Strategy), Margaret Owino (Operations), Martin Ole Kamwaro (Deputy Secretary General), and Andrew Kiplimo (Director of Elections), among others.
The team features a mix of regional and sectoral representation from across the country.
