A 68-year-old South African national was discovered dead in the bathroom of his apartment in Parklands, Nairobi, on the morning of Wednesday, May 7.
Authorities believe Mark Nalon Minter, who had traveled to Kenya on a business trip on May 1 and was scheduled to return on May 10, collapsed in the washroom.
At the time of the incident, he was staying with a female companion. According to her statement to police, the two had gone to bed after dinner. However, when she awoke the next morning, she found him missing and later discovered him unresponsive in the bathroom.
Emergency responders from St John’s Ambulance were called to the scene but confirmed that Minter was already deceased. A collection of medications for hypertension and diabetes was found in his luggage.
Police noted a visible injury on his forehead, believed to have resulted from a fall, and have launched an investigation into the cause of death. The body was transferred to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The woman was questioned and released as investigations continue.
