Suspected Al-Shabaab militants launched a deadly attack on a quarry in Bur Abor Village, Mandera East, early Tuesday morning, killing five workers and injuring two others.

According to local authorities, the attackers struck at around 7:00 am, ambushing the workers as they arrived and surrounding their vehicle before opening fire.
While 25 workers escaped unharmed, five were fatally shot, and two sustained serious injuries.
Mandera County Commissioner Henry Ochako confirmed the incident, noting that security operations are underway to pursue the attackers and enhance protection in the region.
