Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League, despite losing their quarter-final second legs to Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa, respectively.
Barcelona went into the second leg 4-0 up on the back of a huge home win. However, they struggled away in Germany, losing 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund, with Serhou Guirassy scoring a stunning hat-trick.
Guirassy opened the scoring with a Panenka penalty in the 11th minute before adding a second with a header early in the second half. Dortmund looked to have great hopes of progressing, but Barca’s Fermin Lopez caused Ramy Bensebaini to score an own goal to dampen the Germans’ spirits. Guirassy restored hope with a third goal in the 76th minute, but his last-ditch effort was fruitless.
Despite losing the game, Barcelona qualified with a 5-3 aggregate victory and now continue their dream of winning the treble this season, 10 years since they last achieved it in 2015.
Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, secured a 5-4 aggregate victory over Aston Villa, despite losing 3-2 in the return leg at Villa Park last night. PSG looked to have sealed the win early after scoring two quick goals through Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, but Villa came back strongly through goals from Youri Tielemans, John McGinn and Ezri Konsa.
PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma stood firm by making several saves against Aston Villa, helping his team advance to the semi-finals.

PSG are now chasing their first Champions League title, having already won the Ligue 1 title for the fourth consecutive season and reached the French Cup final.
In the semi-finals, Barcelona will face the winner between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, while PSG will face the winner between Real Madrid and Arsenal.
