Nairobi Police Commander George Seda said preliminary findings indicate the clash may have been linked to a dispute over control of small businesses in the area — an issue that has previously sparked tension among rival groups.

Police have since mounted an operation in Kiamaiko and arrested seven suspects believed to be connected to the fatal assault.

Seda added that additional officers have been deployed to maintain peace and avert possible revenge attacks.

“Tension had been reported, but the situation is now calm. Investigations are ongoing to determine what exactly led to the teenager’s death,” he said.

In a separate incident in Ayany Estate, police are probing the sudden death of a 41-year-old man, Stephene Omukuba, whose body was discovered inside his house.

A concerned neighbour reportedly found him lying beside his bed. Police said there were no immediate signs of foul play, but the body was moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. The incident occurred on November 11, 2025, and officers say further action will depend on autopsy results.

Meanwhile, two drowning incidents in Nakuru County have claimed the lives of a man and a four-year-old boy.

In the first case, residents of Koyomtich village in the Menengai area discovered the decomposed body of a man floating in the Molo River. Locals said he had been living in an unfinished structure near the riverbank. Police recovered the body and took it to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.

In the second incident, a four-year-old boy who had been reported missing on November 11 was found drowned in a disused fish pond in Mau Narok. The child’s body was discovered a day later in a swampy section of a neighbour’s farm.

Investigators believe the boy may have wandered into the area and accidentally drowned. His body was taken to the mortuary for examination.

Police have urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and ensure safety around open water sources to prevent similar tragedies.
