16 Children Rescued from a Residence in Kayole

Authorities in the Embakasi area successfully rescued 16 children found in a dwelling in Soweto, Kayole, earlier this week.

A police report obtained by media indicates that Daniel Odongo, a children’s protection officer in the Embakasi Central constituency, alerted law enforcement to the situation.

Odongo notified the police of the children’s presence in a property located in the Nyando area. Subsequently, authorities took action, leading to the apprehension of Linet Akinyi, a Kenyan, and Isaack Mwanjeka, a Tanzanian national.

Upon questioning, Akinyi and Mwanjeka failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for having the children under their care. The minors were found residing in a two-room rental unit.

Law enforcement officials suspect that the children may have been intended for trafficking to an undisclosed destination. Investigations into the matter are underway, with both suspects currently in police custody.
