A tragic accident involving a bus and a lorry at Othoo area in Nyando sub-county along the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway has claimed the lives of eleven individuals.
Confirming the incident, Allan Mwangi, the Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer, stated that numerous other passengers sustained injuries and were admitted to Ahero Sub-county Hospital and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) after the collision occurred at 2:30 am.

The deceased include two women, eight men, and a teenage boy, while a total of 53 passengers suffered injuries in the crash.

Mwangi reported that the bus, traveling towards Nairobi, attempted to overtake another vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming lorry, causing the immediate deaths of the 11 victims.
Both vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to Ahero police station for further investigation.
