Western Kenya Leaders Call On Ruto To Alleviate Soaring Cost of Living

A group of political figures from Western Kenya has implored President William Ruto to address the escalating cost of living.

Led by Eugene Wamalwa, the leader of the DAP-Kenya party, these leaders emphasized the strain placed on Kenyan households due to numerous taxes. Wamalwa pointed out that the National Dialogue Committee’s report failed to address crucial cost-of-living issues, which is why he refrained from endorsing the document.

“Zakayo said he cannot lower taxes, and that’s why I refused to sign that agreement,” stated Wamalwa.

Luanda MP Dick Maungu echoed similar sentiments, urging Ruto to decrease the prices of essential goods or consider stepping down from his position.

“If he can’t lower the prices of goods, let him step down himself,” he remarked.

These concerns were raised in Bungoma County during the initiation of a grassroots recruitment drive, where Wamalwa welcomed defectors to join his political group.
