A family in Kirinyaga is grieving the loss of their 15-year-old son who tragically drowned in River Nyamindi.
The boy, a Form Two student, was reportedly cycling with a friend along the Mwea-Embu highway when the incident occurred.
The boy’s mother, deeply shocked and saddened, expressed confusion about how her son ended up at the river, which is located far from their home.
Local residents reported seeing the boys near the Nyamindi bridge. While attempting to drink water, one of the boys fell into the river and drowned.
The community and emergency services are currently working together to recover the boy’s body from the river.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of water safety, especially for young people.
