Three children narrowly survived after their home in Machakos County was set on fire in an attempted arson.
According to initial reports, the children were asleep in Kavuti Village, Kikule Sub-Location, Masinga Sub-County, when the incident occurred, while their mother had stepped out.

An arsonist reportedly entered the house and ignited the bedroom, but the children woke in time to escape, though the fire completely destroyed the home.
Their mother, Victoria Mbithe, said she had gone to a nearby homestead when she received an urgent call informing her that her house was on fire.
