Motorists in Tanzania will need to pay more for fuel from August 7 (today).
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has announced new fuel price caps for August 2024, showing a slight increase compared to July.
In Dar es Salaam, petrol will cost up to Sh3,231 per litre, and diesel prices will be capped at Sh3,131 per litre.
EWURA attributed the increase to higher premiums for importing petroleum products, which have risen by an average of 3.58% for petrol and 4.35% for diesel.
However, premiums for kerosene at Dar es Salaam Port have decreased by an average of 7.45%. In Tanga Port, premiums for petrol and diesel decreased by 6.7%, while Mtwara Port saw an average reduction of 7.54% in premiums for both petrol and diesel.
Apart from premiums, EWURA stated that the adjustments in August’s cap prices were influenced by several other factors, including FOB prices, landed costs, and exchange rates.
