A 40-year-old woman died after she was stabbed during a domestic dispute at her home in Baricho, Kirinyaga County.
According to police, Mary Wambua Mugweru sustained stab wounds to the chest on February 15 in an altercation believed to have involved her husband. She was taken to hospital but passed away two days later.

The suspected attacker fled the scene and remained at large as of February 18, 2026, with police launching a manhunt. Officers who responded to the incident recovered blood-stained sandals believed to belong to the deceased. Her body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
In a separate incident in Matete, Kakamega County, detectives are probing the death of a 50-year-old teacher in what is suspected to be a murder case. The deceased, Stephen Keraro Obieto, a teacher at Makwabuye Comprehensive School, was found dead with injuries.
His body was moved to the mortuary as investigations continue. No arrests had been made, and the motive remains unclear.
Elsewhere in Siakago, Embu County, a 75-year-old man, Njeru Marumba, died after a fire broke out in his house. The cause of the blaze had not been established, and the body was taken to the mortuary pending a post-mortem.

In Kiambu Town, police are investigating the death of 67-year-old Alicadah Nginda, who fell from the seventh floor of a residential building on February 13, 2026. Her body was found behind the building and moved to the mortuary. Authorities are looking into all possible circumstances surrounding the fall.
Meanwhile, in Tebesi, Kegonga, Migori County, a four-year-old boy drowned in a river after reportedly going missing on his way home from school. His body was later recovered and taken to the mortuary as police continue with investigations.
