Safaricom Reduces Minimum Airtime Purchase to Sh1

Safaricom has announced a significant update to its M-Pesa airtime purchase options, reducing the minimum amount from Sh5 to Sh1.

This new policy, which was unveiled on Monday, allows users to buy airtime for as little as Sh1. A recent check by the Star confirms that this change has already been implemented.

Safaricom has notified its customers about this adjustment through text messages.

In addition to this change, Safaricom has introduced a new charge for reverse calls. Effective immediately, users will incur a fee of Sh0.50 for each reverse call request made beyond the first two requests per day.

The company stated that the first two reverse calls per day will remain free for the initiator. This new fee is intended to prevent misuse of the reverse call service, as some users reportedly choose this option even when they have adequate airtime.

The reverse call service will only be available for calls made within the Safaricom network.
