Petition Filed to Remove Chief Justice Koome From Office

A request has been submitted to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) seeking the dismissal of Chief Justice Martha Koome from her position.

Michael Kojo Otieno, the petitioner, alleges that Chief Justice Koome disregarded legal protocols when appointing members to the tax appeal tribunal.

According to Otieno, Chief Justice Koome failed to uphold transparency and diligence in her actions, and discriminated against certain applicants during the appointment process.

Specifically, Otieno claims that Chief Justice Koome exceeded the prescribed limits for appointing tribunal members, thereby violating section 4b of the Tax Appeal Tribunal Act. Consequently, Otieno argues that Chief Justice Koome is unsuitable for her role and should be ousted from office due to her purported illegal actions in the appointment of the tax appeal tribunal.

These allegations are documented and have been made available to the media.
