Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has been released on a Sh10,000 police cash bail following her dramatic arrest outside Parliament Buildings.
Police indicated she is facing possible charges of creating disturbance and obstruction of justice. She was taken to Nairobi’s Central Police Station for processing before being freed.

Nairobi Regional Police Commander George Seda confirmed her release, saying the cash bail was sufficient for the alleged offences, pending arraignment.
In a Facebook post, Orwoba revealed she had been detained at Central Police Station while awaiting charges, which she claimed were being filed at the Parliament Police Station.
Earlier, she had been blocked from accessing the Senate despite presenting court orders reinstating her. A video captured security officers denying her entry as she insisted she had a legal right to resume duty.
“I am here to go back to work as per the court’s judgment. I have my badge and everything. I am legally in the Senate,” she was heard saying.
Orwoba maintains she is still a nominated senator for UDA unless the court rules otherwise. On August 20, the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal nullified her expulsion from the party, citing violations of due process and natural justice.

The tribunal, chaired by Desma Nungo, found that UDA’s disciplinary process denied her a fair hearing and failed to provide her with the decision. The party had expelled her on grounds of disloyalty, accusations she described as politically motivated.
UDA has insisted the expulsion was justified and argued that the matter is still before the High Court.
