Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has spoken out about his removal from the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee.
Nyoro, who was replaced by Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi, told the press on Tuesday that he is unaware of the reasons behind his removal, as the Kenya Kwanza coalition had not communicated with him regarding his position.
“No one has ever called me to discuss this. I only learned about it from the newspapers. I’m also in the dark,” Nyoro explained.
Following his removal, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah commented in Parliament that some MPs misuse their power in committees to benefit their own constituencies.
It was alleged that Nyoro had allocated an unfairly large portion of funds to his Kiharu constituency, to the detriment of others.
“I won’t stoop to responding to negativity with negativity, nor will I answer an insult with an insult,” Nyoro responded to these accusations.
“I hold no grudges against anyone,” Nyoro continued, insisting that no Kenya Kwanza leader had consulted with him before his removal from the committee.
Nyoro’s statement follows months of silence, during which he had been distant from public attention. This silence has been speculated to be linked to his close ties with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was removed from his position in 2024.
