In a separate incident, NTSA also confirmed another crash along the Nairobi–Namanga Highway involving a vehicle belonging to Royal Swift Express Limited, which left several passengers injured.

The authority expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a quick recovery, terming the incidents deeply unfortunate.

NTSA further confirmed it has summoned officials from both the Sacco linked to the matatu and Royal Swift Express Limited to assist with ongoing investigations into the two accidents.

The regulator said it remains committed to establishing the circumstances surrounding the crashes and taking appropriate action where necessary.

It also issued a fresh warning to Public Service Vehicle operators, urging strict adherence to traffic rules and heightened caution on the roads.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary pending identification and postmortem examinations, while investigations continue, including efforts to trace a motorcycle rider believed to have been involved in events leading to the crash.
