Ngilu urged Raila to nominate Kalonzo Musyoka as the Azimio flagbearer for the 2027 elections, seeing it as a boost to Kalonzo’s presidential aspirations.
She highlighted Raila’s departure from local politics for an AU role, leaving Kalonzo as a natural successor within the Azimio camp.
Ngilu emphasized the historical support Kalonzo and herself have provided to Raila’s presidential bids, advocating for reciprocity in endorsing Kalonzo’s candidacy.
Ngilu also advocated for the creation of a new Mwingi county from the current Kitui county, stressing unity among local leaders for this cause.
She argued that the current Kitui county is too vast and proposed that Mwingi deserves separate governance due to its size comparable to other existing counties.
Additionally, Ngilu expressed her intention to run for governor of Kitui again, asserting her suitability for the role and encouraging male contenders to pursue national positions, leaving the gubernatorial race to women.
