A portion of Nairobi’s populace is bracing for water scarcity between Wednesday and Thursday of this week. In an announcement released on Monday, the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company disclosed a scheduled shutdown of the water pipeline from Gigiri Reservoir to Karura Reservoir-Outer Ring Road, slated for Wednesday, February 14, commencing at 6 am and concluding on Thursday, February 15 at 6 am.
“This action is necessary to facilitate the relocation of the water pipeline, which conflicts with the ongoing construction site at the United Nations Offices in Gigiri,” the notice stated.
Consequently, the shutdown will disrupt water distribution to several areas including: UN Complex, Ridgeways, Muthaiga North, Balozi, Garden Estate, Windsor, Mathare North, Garden City, GSU headquarters, East Africa Breweries (EABL), Ngumba, and Babadogo estates.
Additionally, other affected regions encompass estates along Outering Road, Huruma, Umoja 1, Dandora area 1, Donholm, Tassia, Fedha, Nyayo Embakasi, Kware, and parts of Pipeline Estate.
“While we strive to swiftly reinstate water supply following the completion of the shutdown, we urge all affected customers to utilize their stored water judiciously during this period of interruption,” emphasized the water company.
