A 36-year-old man has been handed a life sentence after the Kibera Law Courts found him guilty of defiling his 13-year-old daughter.
Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul also imposed an additional five-year term for cruelty, after evidence showed the man repeatedly assaulted the child with a knife and pinched her ears with pegs.
The sentence will, however, remain suspended while he serves the life term.

In her ruling, the Magistrate described the act as “the ultimate betrayal of parental responsibility,” stressing that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt through medical reports and corroborating witness testimony.
The court heard that the minor disclosed the abuse to a social worker after being rescued and placed in a children’s home.

Magistrate Abdul praised the prosecution’s diligence, saying it demonstrated the father’s “complete lack of humanity” and justified the maximum penalty under the law.
