While on a tour in the US, Gachagua alleged that a senior official met al-Shabaab representatives in Mandera and struck a business deal with the outlawed group.
Speaking in Keiyo South during an economic empowerment event attended by Deputy President Kiture Kindiki, Murkomen condemned the remarks as “insensitive” and harmful to Kenya’s image, accusing Gachagua of using terrorism for political mileage.
Murkomen said Gachagua must present evidence for his claims once he returns to Kenya, stressing that matters of national security should not be politicised.
Kindiki also weighed in, urging security agencies to act, saying anyone with credible information on terrorism should provide it to the authorities for investigation.
Both leaders warned against careless statements on security, emphasising the need to protect the country’s integrity and avoid turning terrorism into a political tool.
