Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has voluntarily presented himself at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) headquarters in Nairobi for questioning.
EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak summoned Salasya to record a statement regarding assault allegations and inquiries into his public conduct.
Accompanied by two lawyers, Salasya faces interrogation for allegedly breaching Chapter 6 of the constitution, which governs the conduct of state officials. The probe centers around an incident where Salasya was captured on video assaulting Malaha-Isongo-Makunga Member of County Assembly (MCA) during a funeral on January 12.
The EACC will determine whether there was a violation of the law based on the investigation’s outcome. Despite downplaying the EACC summon, Salasya had earlier suggested that the move was politically motivated by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.
