MP Johana Ngeno to Be Buried March 6

The late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno will be buried on Friday, March 6, at his home in Emurua Dikirr after the family and regional leaders agreed on the date, Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has confirmed.

Governor Ntutu said consultations were held with leaders and a parliamentary committee to coordinate burial arrangements for the six people who died in the recent helicopter crash. He noted that the family chose Friday as the official burial day after internal discussions.

A memorial service for all six victims will take place on Wednesday at a Baptist Church. On Thursday, the bodies of Ngeno and Rono will be taken to their homes for overnight vigils in line with family customs, while the other three victims will arrive on Friday ahead of the funeral.

A joint requiem service will be conducted at Emurua Dikirr Primary School before each body is transported to their respective homes for burial.

Governor Ntutu urged Kenyans nationwide to attend the funeral in solidarity with the grieving families and assured visitors of peace and hospitality in the area.

He also called for a comprehensive probe into the helicopter crash to determine its cause and appealed to leaders to avoid politicising the tragedy as families continue to mourn.

On Monday, William Ruto visited Ngeno’s Karen residence to console the family and signed the condolence book.

Ngeno was among six people who died when a helicopter crashed in Chepkiep, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, on February 28, 2026. Born in 1972, he was serving his third term in Parliament, having first been elected in 2013. He previously chaired the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works and served in the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee during the 12th Parliament.
