In a statement posted on social media, Kuria announced his resignation after meeting with the President, expressing gratitude for the chance to serve in various government roles.

“This evening I met with my boss and friend, President William Ruto, who has graciously accepted my resignation from government,” Kuria said.

He did not disclose his next steps but indicated he would now focus on personal pursuits.

Kuria reflected on his time in government, noting he had served as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry for 11 months, then for Public Service, Delivery and Performance Management for 9 months, and finally as Senior Economic Advisor for 10 months.

“As I move on to pursue personal interests, I take pride in the role I played in shaping and implementing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which the President and I developed as our 2022 campaign platform. Long live Kenya,” he added.

Kuria was appointed to the advisory role after being dropped from Cabinet in the aftermath of the 2024 Gen Z-led protests, which prompted President Ruto to dismiss his entire Cabinet.
