Maliza Uhalifu Operation Expands to Meru, Isiolo, and Marsabit Counties

The Maliza Uhalifu Operation is set to expand its coverage to include Meru, Isiolo, and Marsabit counties, according to Interior CS Kithure Kindiki. The decision aims to effectively dismantle bandit networks in these regions.

During a strategic planning session with security teams from Rift Valley and Eastern Regions, as well as Formation Field Commanders in Samburu County’s Archer’s Post, Kindiki announced that new areas, including parts of Meru, Isiolo, and Marsabit Counties, will soon be subjected to curfew and emergency measures to facilitate the eradication of bandits and recovery of stolen livestock.

In addition, he highlighted that more areas will be designated as ‘Disturbed and Dangerous’ as the operation advances to its third phase. Kindiki expressed condolences and solidarity with the families of security officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, emphasizing the government’s commitment to combating banditry.

Looking ahead to 2024, Kindiki reiterated the government’s dedication to defeating banditry, dismantling its infrastructure, and fostering the resilience of affected communities while integrating them into national development.

Furthermore, he conducted a review of operations at the Archer’s Post Multi-Agency vehicle checkpoint, recognizing its crucial role in combating the illegal flow of arms, human trafficking, and the movement of narcotics and psychotropic substances along the Moyale-Isiolo-Nairobi Highway.
