Makueni: Man Killed by Crocodile While Crossing Athi River

A man from Makueni lost his life in Mwania village, Kithayoni, Kathonzweni Subcounty, after being attacked by a crocodile while attempting to cross the Athi River.

Evans Peter, the Red Cross Coordinator for the area, reported receiving a distress call on Tuesday. Upon reaching the scene, it was discovered that locals had already recovered the victim’s remains. The police then transported the remains to the Makueni Referral Hospital mortuary.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed.

Concerned residents are calling on the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to intervene and remove the crocodile to prevent further fatalities.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another attack a few weeks ago when a teenager was also targeted by a crocodile in the same vicinity. Although the teen was rescued, he sustained injuries to his hand and leg.
