Kuresoi Man Dies After Night of Heavy Drinking

A 32-year-old man has died after reportedly consuming large amounts of alcohol during a celebration in Olubumbu village, Kuresoi, Nakuru County. A second man who was part of the same group was taken to hospital in serious condition, according to police.

The two had joined others marking a rite of passage ceremony on Friday before they were later found unconscious by the roadside. They were rushed to hospital, where Sammy Karenjo was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was transferred to the mortuary as investigations continue.

Police are currently carrying out a broader crackdown on illicit alcohol, which has seen numerous arrests and destruction of illegal brews.

Meanwhile, in Bungoma Town’s Mteremko area, a man identified as Alex Ongeri, 35, died following a confrontation after he allegedly broke into a home. The homeowner reportedly took him to hospital, where he was declared dead, before fleeing. Police are searching for the suspect.

In Nairobi’s Jamhuri area, an Ethiopian national, Shewaye Ergette Alehegn, 35, was found dead in a washroom. Authorities say the cause of death is under investigation, and the body has been taken to the mortuary for further examination.

In Kibera’s Silanga area, a three-month-old baby was discovered unresponsive hours after receiving an immunisation at a local clinic. The child was taken to the mortuary as inquiries continue.

In Kirinyaga County’s Itangi area, residents found the body of 67-year-old Stephen Njiru by the roadside in what police suspect may have been a killing. No arrests have been made so far.

And in Ogembo, Kisii County, 20-year-old Amos Nyageka died after a quarry he was working in collapsed. His body was moved to a nearby mortuary as investigations proceed.
