The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its weekly forecast for September 30 to October 6, 2025, projecting largely sunny and dry conditions across much of the country.
Nonetheless, several areas are expected to receive rainfall, with the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and parts of North-western Kenya likely to experience isolated heavy downpours.

Counties such as Kakamega, Bungoma, Kericho, Trans Nzoia, and Uasin Gishu are forecast to receive morning rains in some places. In Turkana and Samburu, morning showers, as well as scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and at night, are expected.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley—including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, and Nairobi—will see morning cloudiness followed by sunshine, with afternoon showers becoming more widespread later in the week. Nights will generally be partly cloudy, with occasional rainfall in isolated areas.
In contrast, North-eastern and South-eastern lowlands—covering Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa, Kitui, and Machakos—will remain mostly dry, though light showers could occur in some spots towards the end of the forecast period. Coastal areas like Mombasa, Kilifi, and Lamu will experience sunny conditions interspersed with morning showers.
Temperatures are expected to rise above 30°C in parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya, while night-time lows may dip below 10°C in sections of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift, and near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

A review of the previous week showed rainfall in Bungoma, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, and Nyandarua counties, with a general increase in daytime temperatures nationwide. Night temperatures varied, rising in Kericho, Kisumu, and Kakamega but dropping in Laikipia, Voi, and Kitui.
The department has urged residents in rainfall-prone areas to stay alert for potential localized flooding and to keep monitoring official updates.
