Kikuyu gospel artist Karangu Muraya has covered the KSh1 million medical expenses for rapper-turned-mugithi performer Miracle Baby (real name Peter Mwangi), thanks to contributions from fans.
Muraya visited Miracle Baby, currently hospitalized in a facility in Kiambu, on Wednesday, January 24. During his visit, he met with Miracle Baby’s partner, Carol Katrue, who had appealed for assistance in raising the KSh1 million accumulated bill over the past week.
Miracle Baby underwent surgery on Thursday of the previous week after experiencing intestinal rupture. It was revealed that he had been battling intestinal obstruction since 2018, and his condition worsened last week, leading to the urgent surgery.
“On Wednesday, it was noticed that his stomach was swollen, he was neither eating nor relieving himself. He was rushed to an urgent surgery. It was discovered that his intestines had burst and poured faeces all over the stomach. His other intestines were burnt as well. He was cleaned but his wound was removing pus. His infection was very high. He has been on oxygen, his pulse rate has been very high,” explained Carol Katrue.
Karangu Muraya, known for his philanthropic efforts, mobilized his supporters to contribute towards the KSh1,020,000 medical bill. In a social media update on Thursday morning, he announced the success of the online fundraiser.
“Last night was a great moment for our brother Miracle Baby who has been admitted in a hospital in Kiambu. As of yesterday, his bill was over one million and by the grace of God, we were able to clear it all…. May Jehovah bless you all for supporting him and may our brother receive total recovery,” wrote the gospel artist.
Carol Katrue mentioned that her partner would undergo another surgery in six weeks to restore the remaining intestines to their proper position. The couple has a child named Rhonix, born in February 2023.
