Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF), is demanding accountability following the deadly attack in his home region of Tseikuru, Kitui County, that claimed seven lives.
In a statement issued Sunday, Kalonzo called on the Kenya Kwanza administration to explain what he described as widespread bloodshed in Mwingi and across the country. The attack occurred in Kamari village, Tseikuru Sub-County, where more than 40 armed assailants reportedly stormed the area and opened fire on residents.

“This is not just a tragedy—it reflects a serious failure in governance,” he said, terming it the worst banditry incident in the region in four decades.
Kalonzo directly questioned William Ruto’s administration, asking how the attackers acquired automatic weapons and moved freely across county borders. He argued that the operation appeared well-planned and executed with precision, raising concerns about lapses in intelligence and security response.

He also put pressure on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, reminding him of his constitutional duty to safeguard all Kenyans. Kalonzo noted that the attackers—believed to be from a pastoralist community—had previously encroached into the Mwingi North Game Reserve, with their presence already reported.
“Why were heavily armed individuals allowed to roam freely while residents remained defenseless?” he posed.
The former Vice President said Tseikuru and surrounding areas such as Kyuso, Malalani, and Twambui have repeatedly faced similar invasions, leading to displacement and school closures. He accused the government of failing to take firm, lasting action.
Kalonzo further stated that responsibility for the deaths lies not only with the attackers but also with a government he claims has neglected the region’s suffering.
He urged the Inspector General of Police to urgently deploy more security officers to Tseikuru and the wider Mwingi North area, launch a thorough investigation, and ensure all those involved are arrested and prosecuted.

Additionally, he called for immediate disarmament of illegal firearms across Kitui County and neighboring regions.
Offering condolences to the bereaved families, Kalonzo said he stands with them and vowed that the victims’ deaths would not be ignored. He emphasized that the government’s primary duty is to protect its citizens—a responsibility he said was gravely unmet in Tseikuru.
