Wiper party leader Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka has announced his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election and emphasized that he won’t be supporting Raila Odinga for the sixth time.
In a recent exclusive interview with a local media outlet, Kalonzo expressed confidence in gaining the opposition coalition’s support, including Raila’s, to challenge President William Ruto.
Kalonzo highlighted that he had sacrificed his presidential aspirations three times in favor of Raila but reiterated that doing so again would mean retiring from active politics at the age of 70. He expects the opposition to select its candidate early to prevent the confusion witnessed in previous processes.
The former Vice President, who served under the late Mwai Kibaki from 2008 to 2013, stated that he is prepared for his second attempt at the presidency after finishing third in the 2007 polls.
Kalonzo also urged certain ODM politicians, accusing them of always advocating for Raila’s candidacy to enhance their own electoral chances, to recognize that they can win without the former premier on the ballot.
