National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has dismissed the opposition’s new alliance, criticizing it as aimless and lacking a clear vision for the country.
Speaking at an interdenominational church service in Migori County, where President William Ruto was present, Junet expressed disbelief that the coalition’s leaders had yet to outline their plans for the people.
In response to the “Ruto Must Go” slogan popularized by the opposition, Junet stated that such calls have become meaningless over time. He remarked, “That slogan doesn’t need a launch. You can just shout it into a microphone in Nairobi,” adding that similar cries have been heard for years, citing the “Moi Must Go” and “Uhuru Must Go” slogans from the past.
Junet reaffirmed his commitment to a broad-based coalition that aims to unite Kenyans and promote equitable development across all regions. “We’ve signed 10 agreements to unite the country, and we are sticking to them,” he declared.
He also expressed his full support for President Ruto, distancing himself from dissenting voices within his own ODM party. “I want to remind some ODM leaders that there’s no place for insulting the government or the president,” Junet stated. “We know where we stand and where we’re going. Let’s stay united as a country.”
Ruto is currently on a three-day development tour in Migori County, where he is scheduled to launch various projects, including a Technical Training Institute, a Deputy County Commissioner’s office, and several affordable housing projects. He will also inspect markets and schools, as well as oversee the construction of an Animal Health Training Institute and the Muhuru Bay Pier.
