Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has nominated three individuals to fill key leadership positions in Kitui County Government, following a competitive and merit-based recruitment process.
The nominees, whose names were formally submitted to the County Assembly on August 5 for vetting, include:
Agnes Kawila Mulewa – nominated for County Secretary
Timothy Kyalo Muange– nominated for County Attorney
Christopher Okumu Ombunya – nominated for Secretary, County Public Service Board
Governor Malombe emphasized that the selection process adhered strictly to the principles of meritocracy. The nominations were made from a shortlist prepared by a selection panel chaired by Dr. Nzomo Mwita, in line with the County Governments (Amendment) Act, 2020.
A total of 63 valid applications were received after the positions were publicly advertised on June 30, 2025.
“The process was transparent and competitive,” said Dr. Malombe. “These nominations reflect our commitment to upholding constitutional values including merit, inclusivity, and equal representation in public service.”
The County Assembly is expected to vet the nominees in the coming days.
