David Maraga, former Chief Justice of Kenya, has been appointed by the East African Community (EAC) to head the election observation mission in Rwanda.
EAC Secretary-General Veronica Nduva announced this during a Friday press briefing in Kigali.
Maraga will oversee 55 observers tasked with monitoring Rwanda’s presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for July 15 and 16, 2024.
The mission aims to ensure compliance with national electoral laws and will submit a detailed report on key aspects of the process.
