Babu Tells Amisi to Settle Scores Privately

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has called on Saboti MP Caleb Amisi to resolve concerns surrounding the Linda Mwananchi movement through internal discussions instead of making them public.

Babu said leaders should engage one another directly whenever disagreements arise, rather than airing their differences on social media or other public platforms.

His comments followed Amisi’s criticism that the Linda Mwananchi movement had strayed from its original mission, prompting the Saboti legislator to reveal plans to launch a new political mobilisation initiative aimed at electing credible leaders to Parliament.

Defending the movement, Babu maintained that its leadership remains united and committed to advancing the interests of Kenyans.

Speaking on the matter, Babu said Amisi understands the proper channels for resolving disputes and should first consult fellow leaders before taking such issues to the public.

“We do not want to see these matters discussed on the internet or other platforms. As members of Linda Mwananchi, we reject any statements that weaken the movement. It must remain strong, and our unity should be centred on protecting the interests of Kenyans,” he said.

Amisi, however, insisted that while he was among the founders of the movement, it had lost sight of the objectives upon which it was established.

He argued that instead of remaining silent, leaders must continue pursuing meaningful political change even when a movement departs from its intended course.

The Saboti MP disclosed that he is working with a team to establish what he described as a “people’s movement” or “Renaissance movement” that will focus on influencing the election of a new generation of credible leaders to Parliament.

According to Amisi, the initiative will prioritise integrity and competence over age, stressing that effective leadership should be based on credibility rather than whether a candidate is young or old.

He also reaffirmed that he was the architect of the Linda Mwananchi movement, saying he initiated the idea and brought together several young political leaders under the platform.

Amisi explained that the movement was formed in response to widespread public dissatisfaction with the country’s political leadership rather than as a campaign against specific individuals.

He added that it was intended to provide an organised political platform for emerging leaders and help guide their transition into elective politics.

Referring to recent political rallies, Amisi said the public had clearly demonstrated a desire for alternative leadership, arguing that many Kenyans are now looking for a different political direction.
