Babu Owino Reveals Private Talk With Bobi Wine Ahead of Elections

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has disclosed details of a recent phone conversation with Ugandan opposition figure Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, as Uganda prepares to go to the polls.

Speaking during a local television interview on Wednesday night, January 14, 2026, Owino said he spoke to Bobi Wine three days earlier to offer him encouragement ahead of the general election scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator described Bobi Wine as a close friend and claimed that the opposition leader has been facing intimidation and harassment from the government of President Yoweri Museveni.

Owino further alleged that Bobi Wine has been compelled to conduct his campaigns while wearing bulletproof vests, citing what he termed as threats and the use of force by Ugandan security agencies.
