The postmortem is set to take place Monday at Lee Funeral Home in advance of his burial on May 9 in Homa Bay.

Burial committee officials confirmed that all arrangements are in place.

Authorities arrested four suspects on Sunday, including a police officer alleged to have fired the fatal shot. The officer has yet to reveal where the murder weapon was hidden.

President William Ruto, speaking in Migori County on Sunday, promised swift justice, vowing that everyone involved in the assassination would be held accountable. He stressed the government’s commitment to security and national unity.

“We will get them. They will have nowhere to hide. We’ll pursue all their collaborators to ensure such violence does not recur,” Ruto stated.

The suspects were captured in a Dandora hideout in Eastlands. Police say some of them are affiliated with the criminal gang “Mjahidin,” known for armed robberies in the area.

According to police spokesperson Michael Muchiri, the National Police Service is conducting an intensive and professional investigation to determine the motive behind the killing.

He urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as investigations continue.

Officers recovered three motorcycles—including the one used to flee the murder scene—and two cars, one of which served as a getaway vehicle.

The main suspect was tracked from the USIU area to Dandora, where he was arrested. He then led detectives to the location of his accomplice. After the MP was shot, the assailant escaped on a motorcycle and later switched to a car, which was also impounded by detectives.

Investigators revealed that the gunman had parked his car near Sheria House by Parliament and left carrying a bag suspected to contain the murder weapon. Police are now probing how the attackers learned that the MP had changed vehicles for security reasons.
