The pilot of the Airbus A320 reported the threat to air traffic control shortly after takeoff, prompting immediate action. The Airports of Thailand confirmed the incident via a statement on its Phuket Facebook page, noting that a bomb threat message had been discovered onboard.

FlightRadar24 tracking data showed the aircraft turning back over the Andaman Sea shortly after departure, circling several times near the island before safely landing back in Phuket.

The scare came just a day after another Air India jet, bound for London, crashed in Ahmedabad, India, claiming the lives of at least 265 people both in the air and on the ground.
