According to officials, bad weather and difficult terrain hampered rescue efforts, which continued into the night. The operation was planned to resume the following morning.

The plane, registered as 5Y-BVL and operated by Farmland Aviation Limited, crashed after an hour in flight. While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, aviation experts have been called to the scene as part of the inquiry.

The scene was secured ahead of a visit by investigators, and officials from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) were set to provide more information.

Farmland Aviation, which has been in operation since 1984, provides various aviation services, including crop spraying, firefighting, and aerial surveys, among others.

Light aircraft accidents are not uncommon in Kenya, with many involving training planes. Investigations are ongoing to understand the cause of these frequent incidents, though findings have yet to be made public. Pilot error, weather conditions, and mechanical failures are often cited as contributing factors.
