Sultana actress Bwire Ndubi, popularly known as Dida, is reaching out to the public for financial aid in her ongoing battle against metastatic breast cancer. The plea was made on Instagram, where she sought support to cover the costs of medical treatment. Expressing gratitude for the assistance received so far, Bwire, who portrayed Dida in the Sultana Telenovela, has been combatting the disease for almost two years and is urgently seeking to raise Ksh.7 million for essential medical treatment abroad.
Reflecting on life’s unpredictable nature, Bwire shared her journey of confronting unexpected challenges, emphasizing the need for community support. Acknowledging the hurdles she has faced and conquered, she highlighted the communal effort required, stating, “It takes a Village to do absolutely anything, I am coming to the only village I know; please take a moment to stand with me on this journey of recovery by donating anything you can to help me reach the required goal of 7 million shillings.”
Bwire’s health journey began with discomfort and swelling under her armpits, initially dismissed as a common infection. However, persistent pain led her to seek further medical advice. After consulting a gynaecologist and undergoing a biopsy, she was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS), a rare form of cancer characterized by abnormal cells inside a milk duct in the breast.
Determined to overcome the illness, Bwire commenced treatment and has undergone eight rounds of chemotherapy, enduring associated challenges such as memory loss, hair loss, and overall well-being. Stressing the importance of community support, she urged, “The beauty lies in not facing these challenges alone. It takes a village to navigate anything life throws our way. I reached out to the only village I know. Please consider standing with me on this path to recovery by contributing whatever you can.”
