Former President Uhuru rocks new hairstyle in Nigeria

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta debuted a bald head during his visit to Nigeria, a significant change from his previously full head of hair that had long characterized his appearance.

This new look has captured the attention of many Kenyans, although the reasons behind his decision to shave remain unclear.

On Thursday, Uhuru arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, wearing blue trousers and a black T-shirt, topped off with a fedora. He was in the country to participate in the 15th High-Level Retreat on the Promotion of Peace, Security, and Stability in Africa.

Known for his attention to attire in relation to events, he donned a black suit and white shirt on Monday while delivering an inaugural lecture for Course 33 participants at the National Defence College Nigeria in Abuja.

The lecture, titled “The Imperatives of Strong Institutions: A Panacea for National Security and Development in Africa,” highlighted the need for robust institutions to bolster security and development on the continent. Uhuru stressed the importance of technological innovation tailored to Africa’s needs in agriculture, science, technology, and infrastructure, emphasizing that achieving economic independence hinges on ensuring security.

He reminded military officers of their role in safeguarding national integrity, which is essential for creating a stable environment conducive to economic activity.

Uhuru pointed out the challenges posed by non-state actors like Boko Haram and Al-Shabab, stressing that addressing these threats requires introspection and reforms at all levels of government to reshape Africa’s future both regionally and continentally.
