Kitui County’s CECM for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, engaged in a discussion with the Planning and Organizing Committee of the Kitui Agricultural Show.
Following this, he led a tour of the Kitui Show Grounds alongside the County Assembly’s Sectoral Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Irrigation.
The visit, in preparation for the upcoming agricultural show, aimed to evaluate the progress of the event’s arrangements.
Dr. Kimwele reported that preparations were 95 percent complete and urged the public to attend in large numbers to explore and learn about the latest farming technologies.
“This event is a crucial platform for our farmers to gain knowledge and improve their agricultural practices. I encourage everyone to come and take advantage of the resources and information that will be available,” he stated.
Matinyani MCA Hon. Sylvester Munyalo assured the county assembly’s future budget allocations for the event, emphasizing the importance of sustaining the annual show and attracting investors.
“By allocating sufficient funds, we are ensuring its sustainability and enhancing its appeal to potential investors,” he said.

Hon. Musyoka Mbite, MCA for Nzambani and Vice Chair of the Agriculture County Assembly Sectoral Committee, expressed satisfaction with the progress and praised Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s efforts in reviving the show after a six-year hiatus.

“The resumption of this event is a positive step forward for our agricultural sector. The preparations are impressive, and I am optimistic that this show will greatly benefit our farmers, traders, and the community at large,” Hon. Mbite remarked.

Scheduled for July 25-27, the agricultural show promises to be a key event for the county, featuring various exhibitions, demonstrations, and educational sessions on modern farming techniques and innovations.

Attendees included honorable members of the County Assembly Sector Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Irrigation, and members of the Planning and Organizing Committee.
