Media personality Betty Kyalo recently shared her challenges navigating the business landscape in Kenya, following the distressing situation she faced with her Flair by Betty salon.
Kyalo revealed that her salon faced auction due to rent arrears, shedding light on the harsh realities many businesses encounter amidst economic hardships.

In a public notice published by Keysian Auctioneers, items from Kyalo’s salon premises were listed for auction, scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in response to legal action initiated by the landlord.
Among the assets slated for auction are salon fixtures and furniture, including dismantled shelves, massage beds, mirrors, towel warmers, and dressing tables.
Speaking candidly on her Instagram page, Kyalo lamented the challenging business environment in Kenya, where landlords are reluctant to offer rent reductions, exacerbating the financial strain on struggling businesses amidst economic slowdowns.

Despite the ordeal, Kyalo expressed a sense of relief and contentment with her decision, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing peace of mind over material possessions. She announced her renewed focus on growth, revealing plans to reopen Aftershave by Flair Upperhill after a two-month expansion hiatus.
The list of auctioned items encompasses various salon equipment and furnishings, including sink stands, heaters, stools, seats, tables, TVs, and other miscellaneous items.
The auction is scheduled to take place at Lea, underscoring the tangible consequences faced by businesses grappling with financial challenges amid prevailing economic conditions in Kenya.
