Ruto and Raila Confer at Museveni’s Residence in Uganda

President William Ruto and Azimio La Umoja Coalition leader Raila Odinga convened with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Monday at his Kisozi estate.

Images of the two political adversaries depicted them engaged in conversation with Uganda’s leader, strolling with canes in hand, with Museveni’s renowned Ankole cows grazing in the background.

President Ruto summarized their encounter, emphasizing its focus on significant matters impacting both Kenya and Uganda, particularly in the realms of energy and petroleum.

“I had the honor of meeting President at his Kisozi estate in Uganda. We deliberated on crucial issues affecting our nations, such as energy and petroleum,” President Ruto remarked.

He underscored the commitment of Kenya and Uganda to strengthening their longstanding diplomatic and economic relations, which form part of a broader initiative aimed at fostering closer ties among all seven East African Community nations, ultimately leading to the establishment of the East African Political Federation.

President Ruto also mentioned that discussions during the meeting included Raila’s candidacy for the Chairmanship of the African Union Commission.

President Museveni extended a warm welcome to the two leaders in a social media update, noting that their conversations centered on mutual challenges faced by both countries.

“I was pleased to host President Ruto and Rt. Hon. Odinga this afternoon at my farm in Kisozi. We exchanged views on matters of common interest between our two nations. They are both welcome,” Museveni affirmed.
